چکیده

The state-of-the-art diabetes diagnosis is concerned with developing non-invasive nano-enabled exhaled breath-acetone detection strategies. This communication details the potential of polypyrrole(PPy)– Silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) ternary nanocomposites (NCs) for monitoring low-trace acetone in human breath diagnosis. PPy–Ag/AgCl NCs were synthesized through situ chemical oxidative polymerization aniline by silver nitrate presence hydrochloric acid. morphological analysis revealed existence spherical Ag/AgCl nanoparticles (diameter ∼50 nm) embedded PPy matrix nano fibrillar morphology ∼20 nm). structural investigations confirm co-existence PPy, Ag and AgCl nanocomposite. NC exhibited manifold superior sensing performance towards low trace (as as ∼1 ppm) excellent sensitivity (∼20%), prompt response (∼20 s), fast recovery (∼100s), linear detecting range, high repeatability at room temperature compared to pristine PPy. It attributed synergistic effects due physicochemical merits all precursors. Moreover, it showed stability selectivity prominent interfering VOCs varying humidity. opens a new window non-invasive, economic, energy-efficient point-of-care sensors diagnosing humans and, revolutionizing clinical diagnostics personal healthcare.

Non-invasive mouthguard biosensor for continuous salivary monitoring of metabolites.

The present work describes the first example of a wearable salivary metabolite biosensor based on the integration of a printable enzymatic electrode on a mouthguard. The new mouthguard enzymatic biosensor, based on an immobilized lactate oxidase and a low potential detection of the peroxide product, exhibits high sensitivity, selectivity and stability using whole human saliva samples. Such non-...

Catching breath: monitoring airway inflammation using exhaled breath condensate.

A irway inflammation plays a key role in asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other airway diseases. Noninvasive methods as tools to study these inflammatory processes and to monitor airway diseases are in high demand. This has lead to the rediscovery of sputum analysis and sputum induction as noninvasive tools to obtain samples from the airways [1]. Around this time increas...

Is breath acetone a biomarker of diabetes? A historical review on breath acetone measurements.

Since the ancient discovery of the 'sweet odor' in human breath gas, pursuits of the breath analysis-based disease diagnostics have never stopped. Actually, the 'smell' of the breath, as one of three key disease diagnostic techniques, has been used in Eastern-Medicine for more than three thousand years. With advancement of measuring technologies in sensitivity and selectivity, more specific bre...

Measuring breath acetone for monitoring fat loss: Review.

OBJECTIVE Endogenous acetone production is a by-product of the fat metabolism process. Because of its small size, acetone appears in exhaled breath. Historically, endogenous acetone has been measured in exhaled breath to monitor ketosis in healthy and diabetic subjects. Recently, breath acetone concentration (BrAce) has been shown to correlate with the rate of fat loss in healthy individuals. I...

O-Toluidine in Breath-Non-Invasive Prilocaine Monitoring

The generation of methaemoglobin is a rare but potential life-threatening side effect in the use of the local anaesthetic prilocaine. It is currently only possible to ensure the diagnosis by means of blood tests. Rapid noninvasive diagnosis is desirable, especially for risk patients. Using a pig model, we induced methaemoglobinemia via application of dimethyl aminophenol and prilocaine (setup I...
